International Women's Day, originally called International Working Women's Day, is marked on March 8 every year, which is a holiday for women in the whole world. 

Different nations or regions have different celebrations towards this holiday, but their purpose is common, namely appreciating for women's economic, political and social achievements. 

China started to commemorate this day since 1922, and the first mass commemoration activity was held in Guangzhou in 1924. In December 1949, the Central People's Government Administration Council formally announced for the Women's Day on March 8. 

With Opening up and progress of society, women are playing an increasingly important role in all fields. We can see their great achievements everywhere. Therefore, this is a day to protect the rights and interests of women as well as praise them outstanding contributions.
